The mock search was cancelled and we hope to offer another opportunity before the end of the year. At first I was disappointed: the mock search is a good training opportunity, especially good at building our ability to work with other teams when we are not stressing on a real mission. But looking at the size of the team (25 members) and the number of team mates who have served as an officer (13, or 52% of the current membership) it is not surprising no one wanted to plan the mock search. Planning a good mock search takes a lot of effort; are some of our older team members who have served as officers and committee chairs getting burned out? Maybe our focus should be on team recruitment rather than a multi-team mock search?
October is the month we start looking for members for new officer positions. It is not too early to start thinking about running, and I urge all to consider doing so. This is your chance to bring new ideas, energy and spirit to the team.
See you out there.

Thanks to Steve Buckley for the great Land Navigation training he put on last month! We had seven members and one prospective member attend.
There is only one training opportunity between now and the October business meeting. September 18th, at 9:00 am there will be a Litter Handling Training at Bear Canyon Trailhead.
If you have any questions concerning training events please call me at home or on my cellular phone.
